Our Vintage Prints date from 1990 or earlier, and many of them were produced within one year of the original negative. Each print in Wolfgang's Vault is a slice-of-life view of the rock concert phenomenon taken by legendary photographers who did more than document the era, they lived it. The subtle signs of aging in some of these prints only add to their veracity. The slight yellowing of a Silver Gelatin print and almost imperceptible loss of true color in color prints are the gentle patina born of age that help make these in-concert shots, portraits and backstage candids of early rockers and their milieu so outstanding. This compilation contains three new songs: "Just As I Am," "Wild Man" and "Wear My Ring Around Your Neck." It also includes liner notes by Ricky Van Shelton and producer Steve Buckingham. Despite rocking hits like "Wild Man" and "I Am a Simple Man" (or even the new cover of Elvis Presley's "Wear My Ring Around Your Neck"), Ricky Van Shelton's greatest-hits collection shows that he's made his best records as a balladeer raised on stone-country gospel. For proof, just listen to "Just As I Am," "I'll Leave This World Loving You" or "Keep It Between the Lines." ~ Brian Mansfield
Personnel includes: Ricky Van Shelton, Dolly Parton, Albert Lee, Randy Scruggs, Steve Gibson. When he's not trying to be Roy Orbison (as he did on 1990's RVS 3), it's easy to see that Van Shelton's a fine singer. And this is a fine record - so fine it's tempting to hunt for signs of listener manipulation. But Van Shelton balances the self-pity of songs like "After the Lights Go Out" with the uptempo punch of stuff like "Call Me Up." So even though Van Shelton recycles "Rockin' Years," the duet from Dolly Parton's Eagle When She Flies, just call it good taste, sit back, and enjoy. ~ Brian Mansfield

Mansion Over the Hilltop, 8. Old Rugged Cross, The, 9. I Wouldn't Take Nothin' For My Journey, 10. I Saw a Man, 11. Just As I Am / He Smiled As He Ran Out To Play
