Michael Bolton (born Michael Bolotin; February 26, 1953) is an American singer-songwriter and a former rock singer. He is best known for his soft rock ballads and tenor vocals.
His achievements include selling eight top ten albums, achieving two number one singles on the Billboard charts, and receiving awards from both the American Music Awards and Grammy Awards.

Visuals aside, his sound has similarly gotten an update on ONLY A WOMAN LIKE YOU. The opening track "Dance With Me" is a propulsive, lusty Latin-pop number a la Ricky Martin. If that's not enough of a curve ball for those who think they know everything about Michael Bolton, try the semi-hip-hop rhythm loops underlying "Slowly" on for size. That's not to say that those enamored of the "vintage" Bolton sound should fear finding themselves totally at sea; the balance of the album is filled with slow-burning, melodic power ballads co-written by Bolton with the likes of Desmond Child and Richard Marx. It's just that there's a touch of progress to be found on A WOMAN LIKE YOU, and nobody can fault Bolton for that.

Bolton delivers the goods with an enthusiasm stoked by a childhood surrounded by his mother's recordings of legends like Billie Holiday, Nat "King" Cole, and Louis Armstrong. He tips his hat to these influences by way of delicate readings of "All The Way," "A Kiss to Build a Dream On," and "When I Fall In Love" respectively. Bolton also manages to invoke a touch of restraint on songs normally associated with belted-out interpretations, like the Harry Warren/Mack Gordon classic "At Last." There's even a nod by the gruff-voiced Bolton to hero Ray Charles via the pop-country perennial "You Don't Know Me."
